The objectives of the Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty are:

1. To offer a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Environmental Sciences and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Geography;
2. To facilitate and conduct interdisciplinary research;
3. To offer professional courses in related areas, such as Environmental Management, Conservation Biology, Sustainable Utilization of Biodiversity, and Environmental Technology;
4. To develop relevant and in-demand Postgraduate diploma and Master of Science programmes;
5. To enhance public awareness and education about environmental problems and issues;
6. To provide consultancy services for example in the areas of Environmental Management, Environmental Health, Environmental Economics, and Land Use Planning to support the long-term sustainability of the School;
7. To foster linkages with key stakeholder agencies to promote sound environmental research and analysis of issues in natural resource management that aid national and regional development;
8. To provide technical assistance to agencies such as the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC), Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), Hydrometeorological Department, Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), World Health Organisation (PAHO/WHO), and the Guyana Environmental Protection Agency (GEPA);
9. To assist the Government of Guyana with respect to environmental policy formulation and implementation, and
10. To promote facilities and opportunities for continual professional development of School staff to enable them to carry out effectively all of the aforementioned activities.
