Department of Mathematics, Physics & Statistics
Having previously served as a secondary school teacher for eleven years and as head of department, I joined the department of Mathematics, Physics & Statistics, University of Guyana, in the year 2009. My adventurous nature and passion for mathematics education allowed me to teach about all mathematics courses offered in the department. My leadership qualities, excellent team player attitude, and the trust of my colleagues enabled me to administer the department in a positively transformative manner where a number of projects have been successfully completed, all aimed at repositioning the department as the hub for areas in Applied Mathematics in Guyana. Academic qualifications obtained so far include Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics at the University of Guyana and University of the West Indies respectively. There are a variety of research areas, interests and consultancies: cosmology, mathematics education such as error analysis, mobile learning, and application of mathematics and statistical modelling to areas such as public health and computer science. When not in the classroom, my popular activity on campus is star gazing and introducing as many students as possible to the field of astronomy.
