Has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from the University of the West Indies (Second Class Honours), a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Economics from the University of Guyana (Distinction), and a Master of Science in Finance and Economics from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He joined the Department of Economics in 2008. He served previously as an Economist with the Bank of Guyana. In addition to the Department of Economics, he also lectures in the School for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation, the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education and the Graduate School of the Social Sciences.
