About the Bursar
The Bursar is the head of the finance and accounting department of the University with reporting responsibilities to the Vice-Chancellor. The Bursar ensures that there is accountability and transparency in all financial transactions which should be conducted with a high level of integrity and in accordance with the laws and financial regulations.
The head of the accounting department ensures that an annual financial plan is prepared to support proper financial management of all Academic and Administrative Units. The Bursar strives to ensure that the preparation of financial reports is accurate and that timely historical financial information of the University is available to all Stakeholders.
The Bursar is also responsible for The University of Guyana’s financial profile and must consider any operational, financial and/or operational risks and promptly take appropriate action to avoid or reduce risks as deemed necessary.
