Abstract: Avifaunal diversity provides a measure of the ecological health of all ecosystems. Mangrove ecosystems offer protection, social and environmental services to sensitive areas along the coast of Guyana. The Guyana Mangrove Restoration Project (GMRP) has undertaken a series of restoration projects that lend to community development and the achievement of biodiversity conservation goals. Moreover, this study examines the impacts of increasing mangrove forest density and the influence of community development on avifaunal diversity.
