Economics provides meaningful solutions to many of the top issues facing the global community, such as climate change, sustainable development, and for many economies becoming competitive in a globalized world. Here in the Department of Economics at the University of Guyana we pride ourselves on our contribution to the public discourse on these important issues.
 
The Department is a leading teaching and research hub both nationally and regionally. Our highly qualified academic staff and diverse range of courses will equip you with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life problems.
 
The Department boasts two elite programmes, our traditional Economics programme and our new Business Economics programme. If you decide to study with us you will be learning from some of the most talented economists in Guyana. We are home to over 10 active teaching and research staff, including specialists in development economics, climate change, international finance, labour and agricultural economics.
