Summary
To provide IT technical assistance to teams of software developers to design, build/customise and evaluate new and/or existing mission critical and other software application solutions, and to deploy and/or integrate these into the software portfolio of the University of Guyana. In addition, the incumbent shall provide assistance in terms of maintenance and support of deployed software solutions that form part of the university’s software portfolio.
Qualification, Knowledge and Experience
- Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science OR Management Information Systems OR Information Technology plus the following:
- A good understanding of programming concepts
- Exposure to programming languages - PHP / .NET Technologies/ Java Technologies
- Exposure to any one of the RDBMs - MySQL / MariaDB / PostgreSQL / MSSQL
- Ability to learn new software and technologies
- Must be able to work well in a team environment
Key Responsibilities
- To Work with an agile team to design, develop, test, and maintain database-driven web applications
- To Learn the codebase and database design of existing software applications
- To Produce design and code based on specifications
- To Understand concepts of software engineering
- To Analyse and resolving technical and application problems
- To Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor
