Dr. Gobin obtained her medical degree from the University of Guyana then proceeded to the University of Cambridge, UK, where she obtained a Master’s degree and a PhD in Epidemiology. During her time at Cambridge, she also served as a Research Assistant in the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, and lectured to Master’s degree candidates. Upon her return to Guyana, Dr Gobin directed the development of the UG MPH Programme together with Professor Douglas Heimburger of Vanderbilt University, and has coordinated the programme since its implementation in 2014. She is also the Principal Tutor of Community Field Assignments in the UG MBBS Programme.

Dr. Gobin’s research interests include chronic non-communicable diseases, especially diabetes and cardiovascular disease, individual participant meta-analysis, and genetic epidemiology, and she has published various articles in these areas.
