Director’s Welcome
Greetings
First of all, let me thank you for the interest you have shown in the School of Allied Health(SoAH),and let me welcome you. To be an Allied Health Professional is not only a noble aspiration, but it may very well be the best decision you ever make. Of course at this point, you may be asking yourself, what really is this thing called Allied Health? To answer this first question, we turn to the Association of Schools Advancing Allied Health Professions (ASHAP) who defines an allied health profession it as any profession that is involved with the delivery of health or related services pertaining to the identification, evaluation and prevention of diseases and disorders; dietary and nutrition services; rehabilitation and health systems management, among others.
Based on the foregoing definition, SoAH currently offers three undergraduate programmes Mr Davon Vanveen
1. Bachelor’s of Science in Medical Laboratory Science Director
2. Bachelor’s of Science in Medical Imaging
3. Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Health
Should you choose to pursue one of the programmes offered by SoAH, it is my guarantee that you will receive a high quality education that is hallmarked by strong theoretical foundations alongside meaningful practical experiences delivered by a highly competent, dedicated and experienced faculty. Our curricula are guided by International Professional Associations such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology(ASCP),Institute of Biomedical Sciences(IBMS), International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISSRT), and the International Federation for Environmental Health (IFEH),so it therefore comes as no surprise that our alumni have been able to find jobs not only in Guyana, but the wider West Indies, North America, Europe and Africa.
