Process of Selection of Applicants for Admission

  1. Applicants are sorted into categories based on the 9 criteria for admission, with an additional category for applicants from underserved regions of Guyana (Regions 1, 7, 8, 9, and to a lesser extent 5 and 10).
  2. Within each category, applicants are ranked from highest to lowest according to their GPAs or grades received at CAPE/GCE Advanced Levels.
  3. The applicants with the best performance are then selected from each category according to predetermined quotas.

This system ensures objective selection of the most qualified applicants from diverse backgrounds, and representation of underserved areas in the final cohort. It is important to note that meeting the entry requirements for the MBBS programme is not a guarantee of acceptance, as the number of applications usually far exceeds the number of spaces available. Meeting the entry requirements simply means that the applicant becomes eligible for consideration.
