Admission Requirements

Applicants applying for the Degree Programme Bachelor of Science in Medical Rehabilitation are required to be at least 16 years of age in the year of admission. Applicants must choose specialty of choice (major) in the beginning of application. Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • 5202 & 5202-A Criterion 1: Passes in five (5) subjects at the GCEA-C (or equivalent) /CSEC (General Proficiency) Examination, Grades I – III which must include English Language, Mathematics and at least one of the following science subjects: Biology, Human Biology, or Integrated Science. These five subjects must have been completed at one sitting.
     
  • 5202 & 5202-A Criterion 2: Passes in six (6) subjects at the GCEA-C (or equivalent )/CSEC (General Proficiency) Examination, Grades I to III which must include English Language, Mathematics and at least one of the following science subjects: Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Integrated Science (Si). These six subjects must have been completed at no more than two (2) consecutive sittings.
     
  • 5202 & 5202-A Criterion 3: Passes in three (3) subjects at the GCEA-C (or equivalent)/CSEC (General Proficiency) Examination, Grades I – III which must include English Language, Mathematics and at least one of the following science subjects: Biology, Human Biology, Physics or Integrated Science (Single Award). This must be together with the Government of Guyana Rehabilitation Assistant Certificate or Audiology Practitioner obtained through the 18 months programme offered by Ministry of health, Georgetown. The certificate must have been obtained with a minimum of 60% in both written examination and practical session and a minimum of 3 years experience as Rehabilitation Assistant or an Audiology Practitioner must be served. They must also write the UG Entrance Examination (UGEE) upon application.
     
  • 5202 & 5202-A Criterion 4: Mature students (26 years and over) will be considered for admission to the programme provided that they have two (2) subjects at the GCE/CSEC (General Proficiency) Examination Grades A - C or I to III(or equivalent) which must include English language, one of the following science subjects: Biology, Human Biology, or Integrated Science and Mathematics and three years continuous relevant experience. They must also write the UG Entrance Examination (UGEE).
     
  • Applicants maybe also be requested to attend for an interview and/or proof of attendance for at least a 40 hours of non-paid community volunteering services on/ or before coming into the programme.
