Mr. Ewart A. Smith, Head of Forestry Department

Welcome to the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, the Department of Forestry. If you are a first year, the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry especially the Department of Forestry will be your academic home away from home for the next two or four years. If you are a Degree student, this is your academic home away from home for the next two years.

The Department of Forestry offers two Programmes the Associate of Science and Degree in Forest Science (B.Sc.) of which it is strongly committed to undergraduate education. The forestry programme at the University of Guyana (UG) is the main pathways for training technical and professional foresters for work in the forestry sector of Guyana and previously, in the wider English speaking Caribbean.

The Department of Forestry is designed to provide consistent, high-quality and appropriate academic advising, monitoring, mentoring, nurturing and coaching to ensure your academic and personal success.

The Department of Forestry believe that with all of the support services available, including tutoring and Supplemental Instruction, no student should earn a grade point average (GPA) below 2. Even so, your academic success depends on how well you take responsibility for your own education, including taking initiative to achieve academic excellence.
