Department of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics- Research Agenda

The department seeks to identify the key scientific, economic and societal challenges to which Mathematics, Statistics and Physics research can contribute. Some ways in which we can contribute include motivating students to understand the fundamental concepts in Mathematics and Statistics, encouraging students to connect the practical problem with some underlying mathematical models and enhancing industry and institutional relationships through research.

This vision extends to fostering a creative and supportive culture where research students receive excellent training and staff at all levels realise their full potential. The Department’s research agenda is set with the broader university context in mind. Developing effective collaborations within the Faculty of Natural Sciences and more broadly the University of Guyana is another key feature of research within our department.
