UG Hosts On-Lining Seminar for UG Faculty, Educators Sept 7-11, 2020, Local and International Experts in Line-Up

(The University of Guyana/ Georgetown/Guyana/ Sept 6/2020) The University of Guyana will host a weeklong seminar this week, focussed on various aspects of delivering online education. The seminar hosted virtually on Zoom begins Today, Monday, September 7 to 11, 2020 from 10:00 h to 12:00 h.

Sessions include Principles and Practice of Getting Online Quickly : Adapting Curriculum and Delivery by Higher Education and E-Learning Specialist Dr Ann Wallace who is a Retired Academic and Program Direc- tor of the Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business. Other sessions on Assessment and Engagement will be con- ducted by Dr Charmaine Bissessar and Ms. Rhonda Hamilton of the newly formed Tactical Online Services Unit (ToS) at UG. Audio-Visual Elements of On-line Curricula will be treated by Dr Taij Rampersaud of the Centre for Communication Studies at UG. Dr Ramesh Sharma of Ambedkar University in India will address Online technologies for courses with Labs and other practical elements and Dr’s Meredith Toth and Allison Hall from Arizona State University will address Delivering Services and Supporting Students in an Online Environment. The UG Community will also share Guyana specific lessons learned with rapid-response on- lining over the last 6 months. Though the seminar is geared for UG faculty and staff the University has ex- tended invitations to several key stakeholders in Education in Guyana.

In support of national Covid prevention measures, the University of Guyana will be continuing its classes online for the first semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year, which will commence from October 5, 2020. “UG” is currently conducting a number of preparatory initiatives aimed at perfecting its online services to stu- dents for the New Academic Year.
