Yes, you may renew your items (except for 48hr loan) and books that are overdue. Renewals can be done by the following ways:

  • In-person - Visit the library (see opening hours) with the book and ask the Circulation Staff for a renewal
  • Telephone – call the Circulation Department and be ready to provide the following details: USI number; author of the book; title of the book; the accession number of the book; the call number of the book and the date due.
  •  Email – send an email to circulation@uog.edu.gy asking for a renewal. Be sure to include your USI number; author of the book; title of the book; the accession number of the book; the call number of the book and the date due.

 

Based on the loan period for the book checked out a student may have the book for the following loan period: (a) Three (3) weeks (b) One (1) week (c) Forty-eight hours (48hrs) or (d) Two (2) hours – not to be taken out of the library.

Current UG students and staff may access online library resources on and off campus. Everyone is welcome to use the online resources. This includes access to online databases, e-journals and e-books etc.,

Fines can be paid in person at the library (See opening hours) or any branch of Republic Bank. For banking details, kindly send email to rsd.library@uog.edu.gy

If you are unable to visit the physical library but need to return your library cards for library clearance, please follow the steps outlined below which are tailored for Turkeyen Campus. Scan the tickets (name and address must be visible) and send to the following library’s email address, if they are required for clearance. Send image of scanned reading room tickets to: rsd.library@uog.edu.gy or WhatsApp numbers: 638-4432 or 642-7105

You may become a registered member of the library by completing the online registration form at: https://uglibrary.uog.edu.gy/library-online-registration-form/ or visit the library during opening hours. Be sure to take your current student ID card.

Yes, you can. Other persons including visiting researchers may be granted Library privileges at the discretion of the Librarian.  If borrowing privileges are granted, applicants will be required to pay an annual fee of $20,000 to borrow 3 books with 75% to be refunded if nothing is owed at the end of the period; $6,500.00 to borrow 1 book with 75% to be refunded if nothing is owed at the end of the period.

Non-borrowing Visitor(s) will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of $1000.00.

 

All registered undergraduate and graduate students, academic and non-academic staff and members of the Council of the University are eligible for membership.  Students are required to pay a refundable cautionary deposit of $1,500.00 at the time of initial registration.

The hours of opening during semester are Monday – Friday 8:30 h – 18:00 h

Saturday 8:30 h – 16:30 h

A 24 h Reading Room Service is offered five (5) weeks prior to the examination period.

During vacation and off-peak times the hours of opening varies.
