Field research methods (July 02-12th, 2017)

Course conducted at the Pibiri biological field station with fourteen (14) participants that included University of Guyana faculty, students, as well as professional staff from natural resource agencies including one (1) participant from Suriname. Students were able to develop research ideas and test hypothesis during the field component of this course and are currently working with University of Florida faculty on writing and data analysis of four (4) manuscripts that include: 1. Crown expansion into canopy gaps in forests; 2. Urban tree cover in Georgetown; 3. Effects of liberation thinning on growth rates of major timber species; 4. Regeneration of Greenheart (Chlorocardium rodiei).
