Holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree in International Relations from the University of Guyana and a Master of Arts in International Law and Human Rights. She joined the Department of Government and International Affairs in 2008 and has served as Coordinator for the Diploma in Public Management and Assistant Dean for Student Services since 2021. She has also lectured at the Tain Campus. Ms. Cameron has done research and consultancy work in areas pertaining to child rights, women rights, refugee protection, forced migration and humanitarian law. She was also the recipient of a Fellowship with the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom, as part of which she undertook research on substance use in Guyana.
