Department of Chemistry - Research Agenda

Areas of Research Focus Within the Department of Chemistry include the use of local raw materials and/or agricultural waste for the development of value-added commercially viable products. These include food products, food additives, pharmaceuticals, biofuels, bio-filters and bio-coagulants. The development of these products are directed by food and water analysis as well as societal needs. The Department also emphasizes research in Chemistry education to foster the improvement of chemical instruction, increase interest in the discipline and support the development of local chemical industries.
